XL Power’s latest endeavor is to bring a high performance yet cost effective heli fit for absolute beginners and carry them through learning even the most advanced flying. XL’s Nimbus 550 Nitro is the perfect blend of electric type performance with an on the go fuel and fly nitro airframe, perfect for learning new maneuvers and for throwing in the car for at lunch or after work flights. 550 size can be flown in smaller areas and is super fun at fun fly events with a much more
economical fuel consumption, cost effective to repair, and far less intimidation factor of flying aggressive or learning something new on a 700.
Nimbus 550 Nitro comes suited for the most common full size servo configuration, with option parts if you prefer to use mini servos, a pre-painted highly visible canopy, and bolt together easy building for getting you from the box to the air in no time. This airframe is built for flyers who want to fly as much as possible with the least amount of maintenance.
Features
- It features a proven tapered clutch system adopted from the Nitro 700, making it the smoothest and easiest-to-align clutch stack available on the market.
- With a 7.7 gear ratio, it is perfectly matched to achieve a good rotor RPM while providing enough torque for demanding maneuvers with 550-580mm blades. Optional parts are available to stretch it to a 650-size with an 8.5 gear ratio. Engine maintenance is made easy with the ability to remove the engine from the bottom without disturbing other assemblies, taking only a few minutes.
- The main gear directly drives the head and has been designed to efficiently transmit rotor torque, producing peak power through extreme rigidity.
- The core of the airframe consists of a single-piece 7075 aluminum bearing block assembly and servo mount, which provides rigidity to the frame and drivetrain.
- The cyclic servos are arranged in a 120-degree layout for optimal control geometry.
- The main gear hub utilizes two one-way bearings, ensuring reliability even under extreme power combinations. Additionally, the large diameter tail boom eliminates the need for boom supports.
